Dry lips no more

One of my biggest pet peeves ever- in addition to reapplying sunscreen on hot, sweaty skin- is dry lips! That tight, crackly feeling when you feel your smile looks strained, drives me absolutely mad! And because your lips age along with your face, dry lips only serve to accentuate the wrinkles we’ve now gained (what are wrinkles on your lips called- linkles??)! Will the fun never end??!

To defy the look of aging lips- cosmetically plumping them aside (which I am planning to do next week, by the way!)- here are some dry lip remedies that I always have handy and that I highly, highly recommend:

Darphin’s Age Defying Lip Balm- although the price tag of this stuff is crazy expensive, it’s amazing! If your lips are uncomfortably dry or if you’re headed to the mountains for your winter holidays where you’ll be in and out of freezing and hot temperatures, this is a must-have. Your lips will stay well-hydrated and although the container is small, you need only apply a little bit at a time.

Nuxe’s Reve de Miel Lip Moisturizing Stick– a close friend just sent me two of these in the post, which was such a thoughtful gift! I had been a big fan of Nuxe’s Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm, but found that over time, the lip balm itself would begin to dry up and become quite grainy. This is most likely a testament to the fact that Nuxe’s products are more natural than most, but this is why I switched to Darphin. The sticks, though, will be a great answer to Nuxe’s lip balm I tried in the past!

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Butter  is one of my faves, as is their hand cream, body oil, and body moisturizer. I can’t get enough of that cocoa butter smell so I have bottles of their cream everywhere, especially in my handbag as hand cream!

Clinique’s Repairwear Intensive Lip Treatment is really soothing with a lovely, shimmery, sheer color and their Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss is a great combination of lip balm and color. But here are three recently discovered lip glosses that I can’t live without that soothe, enhance, and add the perfect splash of color: Buxom (unfortunately, I’m not sure where you’d find this product in the UK), Jouer, and Cover FX MintTint.

P.S. When your lips are unbearably dry and peeling slightly as a result, brush them gently with a toothbrush! This will remove the dead skin and make you a heckuvalot more comfortable! Then be sure to apply a lip moisturizer such as one of the ones I mentioned.
